2010 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Silver Winner
Red Wine Blend |
Harvested at the beginning
of October; 12 months in oak
This medium bodied red is warm and austere. On the nose a touch
of blackberry, cherry and black currant with spicy nuances of cocoa, vanilla, liquorices and cinnamon.
On the pallet it is slightly tannic with a lovely harmony of coffee and tobacco nuances. Pair with pasta dishes of intense tomato sauces, roast and grilled meats such as beef, lamb and game or mature cheeses. Suggested serving temperature:
64 to 68 degrees

Ferro Red Wine
2009 Silver & 2010 Bronze San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Winner
2009 FLA State Fair Intl Wine & Grape Juice Competition Silver Winner USA
Red Wine Blend | Harvested the first 15 days of September; 14 months in Oak
Ciliegiolo means “cherry” in Italian, so the grape bearing the name obviously exudes those characteristics. Although only a small percentage went into the blend the final product owes everything to its addition. It begins with a complex, very intense bouquet of exotic fruit and honey and then works its way through the pallet with a long lingering aromatic elegance. Few foods kick this wine out of bed, but it can give its finest performance with meats cooked in either wine/berry reductions or in spice rubs topped with fruit salsas. Suggested serving temperature:
64 to 68 degrees

Magnesio White Wine
San Francisco Chronicle 2009 Wine Competition Bronze Winner
Italian Other White Varietals & Blends Cava's 2006 Italian Blend
2009 FLA State Fair Intl Wine & Grape Juice Competition Bronze Winner USA
White Wine Blend | Harvested at the end of September
Because of its high acidity, Trebbiano is often used in cognac production, while Grechetto for dessert wines because of its late harvest and high sugar content. The resulting combination displays a floral and fruity aroma with flavors of banana, pineapple, peach and hawthorn with a fresh and long finish. Light summer soups, salads, pasta dishes or seafood all share the table well with this pleasant “bianco styled” wine. Suggested serving temperature:
46 to 50 degrees

Rosso Antimonio Red Wine
Red Wine Blend | Harvested at the end of September, beginning of October
For a rosso style, this one is admittedly on the tannic side, which makes it delicate yet intense. A fresh and tasty beginning rolls into a smooth, dry finish. Rosso Rame Red Wine
Red Wine Blend | Harvested at the end of September, beginning of October;
12 months in oak
Our only “rosso styled” wine to touch wood; it has light to medium bodied texture typical of its classification while achieving a nicely rounded complexity. Floral nuances on the nose along with blackberry and black currant from the addition of the Sagrantino grape, which also provides slight tobacco and coffee accents to the taste. The food pairings mirror those of our D’Oro (100%Sagrantino) with roast and grilled meats of beef, lamb and game, pasta dishes of intense tomato sauces, and mature cheeses. Suggested serving temperature:
64 to 68 degrees |

Zincato White Wine
100% Chardonnay Harvested at the end of August
Unlike many Chardonnays, this one was kept out of oak, which allows the fruit to take full stage not only on the nose but also the taste, which is fresh and crisp with elegant notes of green apple and a long finish. It is a perfect afternoon or early evening opener and pairs well with seafood. Suggested serving temperature:
46 to 50 degrees |
